The Outback 4WD will take you past the end of the sealed road and get you off the tourist track to find your own piece of paradise. Based on the Toyota Hilux with automatic transmission, it combines 4WD capability with a comfortable automatic driving experience, perfect for longer trips. Ideal for a family or group of up to five, you’ll be camping in our tough-as-nails, easy to set-up and 100% sealed Darche tents. With the free-standing tents you can leave the camp set up if you’re staying in one spot for a few days.

Single self-inflating Darche air mattresses and sleeping bags are provided to ensure a comfortable sleep. The Outback 4WD also comes with an Outback safety kit, awning, picnic table & chairs and kitchen equipment so you have everything you need for the ultimate 4WD experience.

4WD RVs
Our 4WD RVs are ready to take adventurous travellers off the beaten track, however for their safety, there are restricted travel areas. For restricted destinations listed below, guests are required to nominate expected travel plans with the branch at pick-up and confirm with relevant local authorities that roads are passable prior to travel.

Not all RVs are suitable for all driving situations, so it’s important the right RV is chosen for the travel planned. thl, at its discretion, may restrict RV travel in certain areas due to adverse road or weather conditions, and the distance to nominated destinations in relation to the length of the rental period.

The 4WD is available from Perth, Broome, Darwin, Alice Springs, Cairns and Brisbane, as well as Melbourne and Adelaide at the beginning and end of the 4WD season. With limited fleet so book early

Drivers Licence
What drivers licence is required?
If your Australian living in Australia have a Australian full and current driver's license. Drivers must be over 21 years of age.
Overseas Licence
Licence - I have a overseas drivers license?
A current and full motor vehicle driver’s licence is required and must be produced upon vehicle collection. Should a foreign licence be in a language other then English it must be accompanied by a current international driving permit issued in the same country as the driver’s licence was issued. An accredited English translation will be accepted in lieu of an international driving permit. Drivers must be 21 years of age or over.

No you will have to make your own way to the pickup depot location using for example Uber, Taxi or Licensed Private Hire Cars.
Using the Outback Safety Kit
What is the Safety kit in this 4wd?
The Outback Safety Kit is included with the Safari Auto 4WD. The Kit includes an Emergency Position Indication Radio Beacon (EPIRB), snatch strap with D shackles and a folding spade. An EPIRB when activated transmits an emergency distress signal which can be detected by Australian rescue authorities. A snatch strap is used to pull a vehicle from a bogged position with the aid of another vehicle. The D shackles secure the snatch strap to a rigid anchor point.
